It has been mighty cold too. Time to warm things back up a bit. Only compiled for 3 nodes? How much grief is it to recompile for a higher node count? Not that I'm expecting a stampede of traffic but we have a lot of oldies like myself (only in online terms can 36 years old be considered an oldie) here in the Indy area who would love to get back into an old fashion BBS environment. I'm also trying the 30 day eval copy of COM/IP from PCMicro.com. Ever played with that? Their 4.0 version was release on Dec 2, 2003 and GAP seems to work pretty well with it. It has a DTR issue of not being able to instruct the COM/IP driver to disconnect on DTR lower (even with &D2 set in the init string). Other than that, it is (or will be) a better solution for telneting to the BBS since some Doors are not FOSSIL aware/compatible. Any ideas on the DTR disconnect issue? I have a support email off to PCMicro and I'm awaiting a reply from them on the issue as well. Dual PII 450's is a bit of overkill for a text based BBS but, eh, it's my smallest machine. No one will be able to see the ANSI animation correctly over my DSL line I have but I can remember what it all looks like at 14.4. hahaha. |
