While searching around AltaVista for something, it happened to return a search hit on www.gapbbs.com. I couldn't believe GAP was still around but I was happy to see that it was. Kenny, you inspired me to restore my final BBS backup and convert it to a telnet connection using GameSrv (which works beautifully, BTW, for anyone looking for a free telnet solution for their old BBS). So, I did that over the weekend and plan on updating things to full working order shortly. I'm happy to see that GAP is free too. It was always worth a sheckle or two but now that it's free, it's worth even more. I converted my data files to the new format and installed the 6.6 files. I can get my old 3 node config going (which is what I had originally licensed) but I can't seem to go above 3 nodes. If I try to expand the node count, it keeps dropping back to a max of 3. Could it be picking up some remnant config from my old licensed days? I'd like to go up to 10+ nodes since GameSrv is working so well and I have a beefy dual Pentium II 450's system to run it all on now. As soon as I have things smoothed out, I'll post the telnet address for all to use to log on if anyone has a mind too. BTW, I'm the guy who wrote the first two books on GAP BBS that you'll find on the Info page of this website. TTFN! David Wolfe |
